Enriching Lives. Strengthening Communities.
Who We Are
The SUN Foundation is a fundraising entity created to support our affiliate, Developmental Pathways. Our mission as an organization is to be a source for financial resources and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or delays (I/DD) in their pursuit of a meaningful life. Our primary goal is to provide solutions for those in need of immediate support through a steadfast commitment to Serve the Unmet Needs in our community.

What We Do
At the SUN Foundation, we work to raise funds to be a source of financial support for individuals in need of immediate assistance. By identifying specific areas of need we are able to provide prompt financial support to thousands of individuals that are waiting for state and federal funding. A large part of our success is dependent upon the lasting partnerships we foster with other organizations in our community. Through combined efforts with our partner organizations, we are able to honor our commitments — to construct and execute strategic fundraising plans, actively cultivate meaningful long-term relationships with new and existing donors. Here are some of the areas where we are able to positively impact our community.
The 3+ Initiative
Many children graduate from state-funded, Early Intervention programs at the age of three, leaving a two year gap before they are eligible for services through public school systems at age five. The 3+ Initiative began as a stop-gap effort to help children and families sustain the progress made through the Early Intervention program. Funding for 3+ provides services such as physical, speech, and occupational therapy as well as developmental and behavioral intervention.
Transportation
Many individuals with disabilities rely on public transportation to get to a job or to increase their independence. After recognizing that traditional means of public transportation presents a number of obstacles such as high annual cost, limited routes and inconvenient schedules, we knew this was an area of need that needed to be addressed. We have partnered with local organizations such as Douglas County E-470 and RTD to form a Transportation initiative aimed at offering affordable and accessible means of transportation for the people we serve.
Respite
We understand that in order to be able to provide the best care possible, a caregiver must maintain their own health and balance. Respite care gives caregivers the opportunity to take short-term breaks to allow them to balance their own needs with those for whom they provide care.
Culture
At the SUN Foundation, we truly live and breathe our mission every day — to provide financial resources in serving unmet needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or delays in their pursuit of a meaningful life. We are a motivated, dedicated and authentic group of folks that are committed to a common goal of helping individuals with disabilities in our community. Integrity, innovation, partnership and stewardship are shared principles amongst all of our team members.
